What is a biofertilizer?
Biofertilizer is a natural product that helps enhance plant growth and fruit development by directly influencing its metabolism or the surrounding rhizosphere. It can be a plant extract, a combination of microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi, or other natural products that provide a biological effect on crops.
In addition, natural products can act as insecticides and fungicides.
Various types of biofertilizers have different functions. Some can fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil, while others solubilize and capture nutrients to enhance their availability to plants, like phosphorus. Some biofertilizers can stimulate plant growth by synthesizing growth-promoting substances and even inhibit pathogenic fungi.
The different types of biofertilizers

Nitrogen
Fixers
Did you know that nitrogen makes up about 78% of our atmosphere? It's the most abundant element up there!
Plant growth and protein formation are stimulated by nitrogen, making it a crucial element in plant cell division. Additionally, nitrogen is responsible for the vibrant green color of healthy plants and promotes the juiciness of fruits and grains.
It is essential to maintain a balance of nitrogen and other plant nutrients. If there is too much nitrogen, it can lead to lower crop quality and delayed growth. It may also weaken the plant's defenses against diseases and environmental stress.
Plants require nitrogen converted by either symbiotic or associative soil bacteria to become bioavailable as nitrates soluble in water. This enables the plants to absorb the nitrates through their roots.
Plant Growth
Promoters
Certain types of bacteria known as Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) reside in plants' roots and aid in their growth through direct or indirect means.
- Azobacter spp.
- Azospirillum spp.
- Bacillus spp.
- Frankia spp.
- Pseudomonas spp.
- Rhizobium spp.
Direct beneficial effects:
- Phosphorus solubilization (P)
- Nitrogen fixation (N)
- Synthesis of phytohormones (auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins)
- Siderophores transform the iron making it available and assimilable.
- Increased absorption of specific ions/increase in the absorption of particular ions
Indirect beneficial effects:
- Competition for the phytopathogen niche
- Antibiotics and antifungals synthesis
- Resistance induction

Phosphorus
Solubilizers
Phosphorus stimulates plant cell growth and can promote root development, thus also accelerating plant maturity. Phosphorus increases plant resistance to disease and abiotic stress.
Microorganisms play a crucial role in nature by enabling the mobilization of phosphorus through dissolution or transformation into compounds that plants can easily absorb.
Organic phosphor is mainly derived from crop residues, manure, and organic materials added to the soil. The microorganisms secrete an enzyme called phosphatase that hydrolyzes and releases the organic phosphate so plants can absorb it.
Phosphorous
Solubilizers
Endomycorrhizae and ectomycorrhizae effectively absorb phosphorus and provide necessary nutrients to plants through a symbiotic relationship with roots. They feed on the sugars exuded by the roots in exchange.
The mycorrhizae surrounding the plant's rhizosphere serve as a sponge and provide a habitat for beneficial microorganisms. Additionally, they promote humidity in the plant's environment, which aids in absorbing water and nutrients. The mycorrhizae also enhance the plant's defense against pathogens.
Pathogenic fungal
Inhibitors
In soil, certain types of bacteria like Bacillus and Pseudomonas produce substances that can prevent the growth of fungi and other harmful pathogens. These substances act as antifungal agents.
However, some bacteria produce different types of inhibitors, such as antibiotics.
Additionally, Pseudomonas has been found to break down fusaric acid, which is responsible for causing plant wilting when affected by Fusarium.
Healthy soil is fertile soil
The agri-food sector in Mexico needs help with the challenges of soil degradation and loss of productivity. These issues arise due to poor agricultural practices and excessive use of agrochemicals. Using chemical fertilizers is not a sustainable strategy, and their cost is increasing, particularly in low-income rural areas. Both soil degradation and the use of agrochemicals are making the Mexican countryside unsustainable.
Due to the current global situation, the prices of chemical fertilizers have reached record levels. Our biofertilizers serve as an efficient alternative that does not compromise crop productivity. They can even enhance the quality and quantity of harvests while optimizing the use of chemical fertilizers.
Our products use microorganisms and plant growth regulators to enhance the efficiency of chemical fertilizers. This reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers without compromising crop productivity.

AGRAMA®
Plant
Extracts
Our plant nutrient extracts, like AGRAMA®, contain micro and macronutrients that plants easily absorb. They also have spores of beneficial fungi, such as mycorrhizae, that aid in root development and improve the quality of fruit produced. These extracts are a great addition to enhancing plant growth and overall plant health.
Application and
Action
Our biofertilizers, ALOMYXA® and AGRAMA® , are specifically designed to enhance soil's physicochemical and biological properties by targeting the plant's root system.
These products work by improving the utilization of nutrients in the soil at the root level, which leads to a significant increase in yield for agricultural producers.ALOMYXA® is an excellent organic fungicide when applied foliar or injected into the irrigation system.
Target
Crops
Exceptional outcomes have been achieved by employing both biofertilizers in unison throughout every vegetative stage of Rosaceae plants, such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, pears, apples, and more. The same positive effects were also seen in Ericaceae plants like blueberries, Solanaceae plants such as tomatoes, bell peppers, chili, potatoes, eggplants, and tomatillos, Rutaceae plants encompassing lemons, oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, and Lauraceae plants like avocados. Additionally, our biofertilizers proved to be highly effective for Gramineae plants such as corn, sugar cane, sorghum, and wheat, Anacardiaceae plants like mangoes, leguminous leguminous plants like beans, lentils, and soybeans, Asteraceae plants including lettuce, fruit trees and ornamental plants..El uso conjunto de nuestros biofertilizantes en todas las fases de crecimiento de los cultivos de rosáceas dio unos resultados extraordinarios.
